Wedding Celebration
The wedding of Charlie and Autumn this summer was lovely beyond words. Place: Willows Lodge, Woodinville, WA. Time: 7pm. The Bride wore white, the Groom and male family members wore black suits. The weather was perfect, warm and sunny all day.
I worried that we might all be dressed up uncomfortably and have to parade about awkwardly with little children in tow all afternoon but instead of trying to orchestrate our little ones into orderly lines, keep them off of the grass and away from the food, we were are graciously encouraged to enjoy ourselves. The celebration of Charlie and Autumn’s love and marriage turned into a celebration of our family and friends as well. We thoroughly enjoyed the spectacle of our ceremonial dress, relished the beautiful grounds and accommodations of The Willows, delighted in the delicious dinner and the great music.
The music; the music was an especially memorable part of the event for our family because Dan Zane’s album Night Owl was on the DJ’s table and we twice requested Snowden’s all time favorite song “HAT!”, more formally known as “Rattlin’ Bog”. Already enjoying the dance floor far past her normal bed time, when HAT came on, Snowden spun around with a look of complete awe and delight in recognition. She waved her arms around, spun her body around, ran back and forth with a huge smile yelling out all the words she knows to the song. This has left a very long lasting impression on her. Quite often, out of the blue, she will turn to us seriously and say solemnly,”HAT, noisy! Dance, HAT . . . Noisy HAT. Autie, dress, noisy dance.” And we say, “Yes, we remember too. They played “HAT” very loudly at Auntie Autie’s wedding and you danced.”
I’m sure you can tell from the photos that this lovely day will be remembered for a very long time.
