Labor Day Cross

I finished a entire cross race on Monday. I have spent the last 3 seasons riding 3 lonely laps before being passed by a couple of insanely fast single-speeders and then being pulled from the race. Monday’s race was mercifully short (3 laps) and surprisingly sand free. These two facts conspired to allow me to finish the full race. I am usually not a big fan of the sandy South SeaTac courses but I enjoyed this one. The inclusion of a short paved section that turned sharply right into a steep run up was particularly enjoyable.

This was also my first race as part of the Viking Cycling crew. It was fun to start a race with 4 other single-speeders in the Norwegian Flag kit. Next time it would be nice to finish with the same group. Maybe I’ll try training.

Here are some pictures of Eric and Chris in the 9:30 race.
